Software for legal work. Not a law firm, and not legal advice. Why this exists

Software for legal work

Read the file with the page still open.

Pellham is for lawyers and legal teams. You research a question, review a contract, read a case file, and draft a document. The sentence you write stays next to the page it came from.

Does “keep in good repair” require a new roof?

Preview

The lease asks the tenant to “keep the premises in good repair.” The side letter from 12 March 2024 says Harborline will patch the existing roof this season. The two pages do not use the same words.

Lease § 8.2 · page 14

“Tenant shall keep the premises in good repair, ordinary wear excepted, and shall tell Landlord within five days of a leak.”

    Facilities note

Research preview. A question about the fictional Harborline lease, with the lease page and the side letter listed beside the answer.

The slow part is finding the page again.

An answer with no page number

A research note is hard to check when it does not show the page it came from.

A review that only says “risk”

You still have to open the contract and find the clause the note is talking about.

A file spread across inboxes

Letters, invoices, and memos are easier to read when they sit on one timeline.

A draft that forgets its source

The next edit is slower when the letter no longer points at the lease page.

Four steps, then you edit.

  1. 01

    Open a matter

Add the lease, the side letter, and the notes you already have.

  2. 02

    Pick the task

Ask a question, review clauses, lay out the file, or start a draft.

  3. 03

    Read the page beside it

Each sentence in the sample stays next to the page it used.

  4. 04

    Edit it yourself

You change the draft. Pellham does not send it, and it does not give legal advice.

Contracts

Mark the clause, and show the words.

A contract review lists the clause, a short mark, and the sentence on the page. In the sample, “keep in good repair” is flagged because the side letter only promises a roof patch this season.

The sample file runs from a March side letter to a January request. Dates, document names, and one-line notes stay on the same list.

Roof repair at bay 3

We write about the leak reported on 2 June 2024. The lease at § 8.2 asks the tenant to keep the premises in good repair, and the side letter of 12 March 2024 says you will patch the roof this season.

Please confirm who will do the work, and by what date.

Margin note

The highlighted sentence points at warehouse lease § 8.2, page 14, and the side letter, page 2.

A lawyer still edits this. Pellham does not send the letter.

Drafts

Start the letter with the citation in the margin.

The highlighted sentence in the sample letter points at lease § 8.2 and the side letter. You can see what would be edited before anyone sends it. This preview does not send mail.

Two places the same matter shows up.

For a law firm

Keep one client matter’s research, contract marks, chronology, and draft in one preview, so the next person on the file can see the page you used.

For an in-house team

Review a vendor lease against notes you already wrote. The sample compares three clauses and leaves the decision with the lawyer.

What this preview will not claim.

The result of the work, in the sample, is a draft or an answer you can check against a page. That is the whole promise of this site.

  • No customer list, no usage counts, and no quotes from clients.
  • No security certifications, court results, or funding claims.
  • No statement that Pellham is a law firm or a substitute for a lawyer.
  • The workspace is behind sign-in.

Questions

What is Pellham?

Pellham is a preview of software for legal work. It shows how a lawyer could research a question, review a contract, read a case file, and draft a document, with the source page still in view.

Who is it for?

Lawyers and legal teams who already work from documents: associates, in-house counsel, and small firm teams. A person still decides what the document means.

Does Pellham give legal advice?

No. Pellham is not a law firm and not certified counsel. The Harborline lease on this site is fictional. Do not use it as guidance on a real matter.

Do these screens work as a product?

No. They are interface previews with one made-up matter. There is no document upload, no model answering questions, and no saved workspace.

Will Sign up create an account?

No. The forms stay in your browser. They do not create an account, and they do not send what you type to a server.

Is Pellham connected to another legal software company?

No. This is an independent project preview. It does not use another company’s name, customers, or claims.

Look through the sample matter.

The Harborline lease is fictional. The screens show a path from a question to a letter that still names its pages.
